Palmerston North skies look a lot like this…daily. Starts out blue then gradually spread with these clouds until it is white out. Today we have rain after several days of the above.
Looks just like the clouds over Brisbane. Few planes spotted but BOM radar shows activity in the remote west. I did see an Eva Air jet on approach to airport at about 2-3000 feet with a fine intermittant spray from the tips of his wings. Lots of small highly charged storm cells appearing out of no where.
This is also very common in Taranaki with daily spraying in New Plymouth and all around Mt. Egmont – much like Danielle says above – sky starts off blue but several large jetliners (how many can you need in Taranaki in a given day?) and a few hours later the sky is completely covered in a smog of particles and eventually totally white. Very rarely do we even get any small blue patches. Sad – our blue skies are gone due to this atrocity.
And we never got the heavy rain forecast… it was a bit though which was a good thing.
