Trans-Pacific Partnership To Protect Investors from Government Regulation

Avaaz  Sept 12th 2012    Details are leaking of a top-secret, global corporate power grab of breathtaking scope — attacking everything from a free Internet to health and environmental regulations.

Big business has a new plan to fatten their pockets: a giant global pact, with an international tribunal to enforce it, that is kept top secret for years (even from our lawmakers!) and then brought down like a Death Star on our democracies. Big Tobacco, Big Oil, Big Pharma, Walmart and almost 600 other corporate lobbyists are all in on the draft — including limits on smoking laws, affordable medicines and free speech on the Net.

The latest round of negotiations ends in just 4 days — but outcries in each of our countries could shake the confidence of negotiators and scuttle the talks forever. Let’s get to a million against the global corporate takeover. Sign below and forward widely. Avaaz will project our petition counter on the walls of the conference so negotiators can see the opposition to their plan exploding in real time:

The deal, called the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), is written to protect investors from government regulation, even if that regulation is passed in the public interest. Leaked versions suggest the TPP would undermine protections for air and water safety and reintroduce measures from the US Internet freedom attack as well as steamrolling efforts to produce generic affordable medicines. Worse still, lawmakers who fail to conform to the TPP’s rules face sanctions in an international tribunal — a place where corporations can sue us for deals previous governments signed in secret!

Negotiators say this is just a trade agreement, written to facilitate investment and profit for all. But the leaked draft imposes so many limits on citizen protections, it’s clear this “trade” agreement is skewed to put corporate profit above people’s needs — that’s not surprising since it’s been drafted in secret with almost 600 corporate lobbyists.

But there is hope: Australia is bucking against the international tribunal system, and New Zealand is objecting to the takeover of its medicine-pricing protections that keep drugs affordable. Massive public opposition, casting doubt over each country’s ability to sell TPP at home, could derail the talks for good. Sign the petition now, and forward widely — the delegates and lobbyists are watching the wave of opposition grow in real time:

US candidate for Senate, Elizabeth Warren in a recent speech said: “Corporations are not people. People have hearts, they have kids, they get jobs, they get sick, they cry, they dance. They live, they love, and they die. And that matters, because we don’t run this country for corporations, we run it for people.” Let’s reach one million to stop the corporate takeover of our governments.

With hope,

Iain, Pedro, Laura, Ari, Emma, Lisa, Luca, Ricken and the whole Avaaz team

What a pity I did not see this post until last night. If I had I would have asked anyone who views this site to sign the petition. I signed it. But no point asking now as I think the petition closes today. AVAAZ’s goal is a million names. When I first accessed their site the number was something like 500,380. By the time I’d finished researching it (about 5 hours) the number had jumped to well over 600,000. They might manage it yet. Their time is well behind ours. And while I was watching a new name came in about every second from all over the world. Fascinating. I watched for about 15 minutes and only saw one from New Zealand.

Why do I believe this is so important? And what’s it to do with chemtrails? Everything. It’s the hidden agenda behind their covert coverup. If the latest Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations go through without our protest we might as well all lie down and die. Think about it. This is the true agenda of the global takeover by the 1% minority. The TPP leak covers everything that’s politically wrong with NZ : things like the Food Act, sale of assets, and so on; the growing gap between rich and poor, the escalating costs of everything, increase in violence because of both (an elderly couple in my suburb were recently subjected to an armed robbery at home – totally out of character for this sleepy old town), corruption of the law (including judges’ attitudes in court), health issues affected by costs and hospitals’ attitudes that if they can’t fix it with a pill or a scalpel the illness is ‘untreatable’ or the patient ‘mentally’ ill – and a billion other things. Easy to see now why letters and petitions to government are being fobbed off or ignored with the TPP negotiations behind it all.

It also spells doom to truth and freedom of speech on the Internet. When I first began investigating chemtrails, around the end of 2009, it just so happened it was the night that a whole lot of websites were being shut down by government. I clicked on a rather radical link and the computer froze. At first I thought it was my PC. Three times more I tried with the same result. So I tried again the next day. The link was still there but it took me to an online shop that sold music and cards and other dumb-downing stuff. Sweet!

If TPP negotiations are not challenged Clare’s site and Will’s site and all the chemtrail sites in the world are under threat of being closed down. If we lose our chemtrail sites what will we do? It doesn’t bear thinking of. I do so hope this petition succeeds. Even as matters now stand I have come to think that the names ‘Key’ and ‘Obama’ are interchangeable and that we have become the ‘New American State of Zealand.’

Well, I suppose I could be wrong but just in case I’m not, if you do see my comment today I hope you will sign the petition.

    Sadly,

Update: It seems the petition is still open. They still need about another 300,000 names.

My dearest friend (a gutzy gal who has fought many a political battle and believes in chemtrails and HAARP and all the rest of it) had already signed it and she wrote me this on Sunday:

‘Key is hosting the next round of of negotiations on this…16/9/2012 Yahoo NZ news,’ then quoted the following:

“Trade Minister Tim Groser is welcoming news that New Zealand will host the next round of Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade negotiations from December 3-12.
The announcement came after a meeting of TPP trade ministers in the margins of the APEC meetings in Vladivostok. New Zealand previously hosted a TPP round in December 2010.
‘I’m very pleased that New Zealand will host delegations from TPP countries, and that we will play a central role in welcoming Canada and Mexico, whose participation marks a significant turning point in the negotiation and aligns with the original vision to create a truly regional, high quality, comprehensive, 21st century trade and investment agreement,’ Mr Groser said on Sunday.
Hundreds of negotiators from countries around the Asia Pacific region will attend the meeting in Auckland.
Jane Kelsey, a critic of the proposed agreement, says hosting the round will cost more than half a million dollars that should be spent on public policies that benefit New Zealanders.
‘If the secrecy that has engulfed these negotiations continues, the taxpayers who are funding it will have no right to know what is actually going on,’ Dr Kelsey said.
She said stakeholder events have been crammed into one day when many of the relevant negotiators are not even around.”

Since Key is hosting the next meeting in our own country it seems even more important to sign the petition. And, if AVAAZ can disrupt the negotiations, maybe we’ll have more of a chance of MPs taking letters about chemtrails seriously and of persuading a wider audience to listen to us. That is my hope.

Hi Jaquie Although highs seem a thing of the past, the grey cloud from over Australia that comes with a high now is giving us yet another dark day. Bring back the blues!
If you are interested in our rights as they really stand today view tvwild.co.nz Farmers and locals fight to keep 1080 from their waterways. I warn you this video has a horror content of 10. This gives a clear indication of where all communities stand on unlawful treatment from our own government. It is not a Peter Jackson animation but we are still paying many millions for it.
