Newsletter From Climate Realists, Number 3 For 2013

Date: Wed, 27 Mar 2013

Dear Climate Realists,

Welcome to the third newsletter of the year- rather than one a fortnight, I’m managing one a month at present- I’m sure this will all change after April!
In the meantime, plans for Lord Monckton’s impending visit have fallen into place very nicely. All events are now finalised and full details are available on our website
Welcome especially to the many new members who have signed up over the last few weeks.
It will be great to meet many of you at the presentations around the country- I suggest you come early if you are planning to attend a non-ticketed event as there is a lot of interest being shown and we are working on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
Despite Lord Monckton’s visit being largely ignored by the nation’s mainstream media, we are aware that a huge number of NZers believe at heart that what they are being fed about climate change and global warming is not true. Tales of tipping points, metres of sea level rise, the need to become a ‘zero carbon’ economy (whatever that means!) and so on, only spur us onwards in our quest to present some much-needed balance to the climate debate.
One of the issues Lord Monckton will address is the current drought. It has been very frustrating to hear James Salinger repeatedly claiming that the drought is the result of ‘climate change’- thus loading more guilt on to the backs of farmers who are already being told they are ‘polluters’ due to their animals’ methane emissions.
As I write this there is less than a week until Lord Monckton reaches our shores. I encourage you to come and hear what he has to say, bring along your friends, particularly any who believe he is mistaken. He will be taking questions at the end of most of his presentations and welcomes the opportunity for friendly discussion and debate.
This will be the last newsletter until May, as I will be ‘on the road’ touring with Lord Monckton until then.
Happy reading everyone.

Cimate Change- manmade or natural? -new book
A new book by New Zealand’s Joe Fone will be available for perusal at the Lord Monckton presentations around the country.
The book should be available at booksellers by May; a review of it is to be found here:
Chart of the Day – Exactly how wrong global warming forecasts have been

The NZ Greens’ “Russell red-melon” Norman could well learn  something (we do not expect ex NIWA staffer Renwick now tenured at VUW  and TV One’s new, tame, AGW/CC guru, to take much notice) from this excellent UK Daily Mail piece posted by Cam Slater. But might the reality set out below also be reason to curtail Renwick’s ”Cracademic” (as one contributor put it) funding stream?

Given the (tax payer’s) moneys that the State (by various means) has spent (wasted?)  on these spurious AGW/CC/Disaster assertions (J. Key today said on TV One  this AM that it was to the order of $700 million!),  we make no apology for the acerbic nature of these comments.
Renewable Energy: Vision or mirage?
New Zealand’s Bryan Leyland helped  write this report:
There could be no better symbol of the madness of Britain’s energy policy than what is happening at the giant Drax power station in Yorkshire, easily the largest in Britain.
Indeed, it is one of the biggest and most efficiently run coal-fired power stations in the world. Its almost 1,000ft-tall flue chimney is the highest in the country, and its 12 monster cooling towers (each taller than St Paul’s Cathedral) dominate the flat  countryside of eastern Yorkshire for miles around…..
But as a result of a change in Government policy, triggered by EU rules, Drax is about to undergo a major change that would have astonished those who built it in the Seventies and Eighties right next to Selby coalfield, which was then highly productive but has since closed.
As from next month, Drax will embark on a £700 million switch away from burning coal for which it was designed, in order to convert its six colossal boilers to burn millions of tons a year of wood chips instead.
Most of these chips will come from trees felled in forests covering a staggering 4,600 square miles in the USA, from where they will be shipped 3,000 miles across the Atlantic to Britain………….

A personal appeal to Britain’s Politicians: Wake up from your warm dreams! Fuel poverty is killing people:
But the time for niceties has passed. Britain’s people face a looming disaster of epic proportion. Britain’s political class needs to act swiftly to minimise the damage which cannot be wholly averted at this late stage. Successive governments have set the stage for the impending denouement, so this is not a partisan rant, but a cross-party appeal to common sense. People are dying by the thousand as a direct result of botched energy policy and we must act to save lives. Now.
(ed’s note: warning, the above article contains offensive language)
from NZCSC
Kia ora all,

This is a must read, and contains truths about the so-called renewable
energy sources touted here by the Green Party:

I am constantly amazed at the absence of calls from anyone in New
Zealand, especially the farming sector, for research into how much our
primary industry production has been enhanced in recent years by the
increase in the volume of CO2 in our atmosphere from (on a global
measurement basis) from 325 ppm (0.0325%) to 394 ppm this year
(0.0394%). And no warming for the last 16 years, so CO2 growth ain’t
affecting the climate, so why do we persist with the ETS, and why do the
sactimonious but economic illiterates in the Green Party keep rattling
on about “emissions”. Someone should remind them that by opening their
mouths and breathing out, they are adding to our miniscule store of that

extract from article:
….If there really were an increased threat from “raging fires, and crippling drought, and more powerful storms,” as the president indicated in his speech, then America would need more, not fewer sources of reliable and affordable energy to prepare for and cope with these hazards. More electricity would be needed to handle greater demands for air conditioning and heating. More power would be required to irrigate drought-ridden lands, build dikes, harden public infrastructure and relocate populations living on flood plains or in harm’s way due to tornadoes and hurricanes.
Yet instead of promoting the most reliable and least expensive energy technologies, such as coal-fired electricity generation, Mr. Obama encourages the least reliable and most expensive sources. It was certainly an understatement to say, as he did in the address, “The path toward sustainable energy sources will be long and sometimes difficult.” He should have added, “and virtually useless,” because the sustainable energy sources he has most in mind are wind and solar power……

The Great Green Con

You may well have viewed this by now but if not it makes great reading reinforcing our well founded scepticism – but how much have we been robbed by our respective governments in support of the con.

No, the world ISN’T getting warmer (as you may have noticed). Now we reveal the official data that’s making scientists suddenly change their minds about climate doom. So will eco-funded MPs stop waging a green crusade with your money? Well… what do YOU think?

The Mail on Sunday today presents irrefutable evidence that official predictions of global climate warming have been catastrophically flawed.

The graph on this page blows apart the ‘scientific basis’ for Britain reshaping its entire economy and spending billions in taxes and subsidies in order to cut emissions of greenhouse gases. These moves have already added £100 a year to household energy bills.

Global Temperature Standstill Gains IPCC Support – GWPF Welcomes Dr Pachauri’s Acknowledgement

The Global Warming Policy Foundation (GWPF) welcomes that Dr Rajenda Pachauri, the chair of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), has acknowledged the reality of the post-1997 standstill in global average temperatures. (see interview with Dr Pachauri in The Australian 22 February).

The GWPF has been highlighting the global warming standstill for many years against fervent denial by climate activists. Recently, Nasa’s James Hansen also recognised that global temperatures have not risen for more than a decade.

“Even though the scientific case for the standstill is secure, and well represented in peer-reviewed scientific literature, it will surely help the climate debate now that the IPCC chairman has confirmed its existence,” said Dr David Whitehouse, the GWPF’s science editor.

The post-1997 global annual average temperature standstill is one of the most important aspects of current climate science. Its recognition by the chair of the IPCC means there is now growing pressure that this empirical fact will receive full analysis in the forthcoming AR5 report.

The GWPF points out that Dr Pachauri’s assertion that it will take a temperature standstill of “30-40 years at least” to affect theories of man-made global warming is without a scientific basis. “The 17-year standstill already strains climate models, and if it continues for much longer it will demonstrate that the climate models on which the IPCC has based its assumptions are inadequate,” Dr Whitehouse said.

Snow storms now pounding the USA after a hard winter, and on the other side of the Atlantic even hoary old Spiegel is bleating—
—I don’t know how much more of this Global Warning we can take~! Can’t somebody please DO something to cool us all down a bit?
Suggested action for Climate Realists:
They were four articles in the Herald this morning all pushing climate change in the most extreme form and without quoting any hard evidence.
The Press Council assured me that the Herald would soon publish something on the standstill on global warming. It has not.
I would like to see a raft of letters to the editor of the Herald complaining about the lack of hard evidence and, in particular, the fact that the world has not warmed for the last 16 years and, according to the British Met office, it will not warm this side of 2018. This proves that the climate models are worthless.
Sir David Attenborough should check his facts on Polar Bears

It is now seven years since Sir David was first wheeled out by the BBC as the main cheerleader in its campaign to whip up panic over man-made global warming. In two documentaries, he presented himself as a one-time “climate sceptic” who had now been convinced by the evidence. The only problem was that, as he repeated a series of familiar alarmist mantras, there was little sign that he had checked the evidence for any of them: not least his claim that, thanks to the melting of Arctic ice, the world’s polar bear population, already down by a quarter, could be facing extinction.
Pressure groups such as Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth had already made polar bears the most iconic image for their crusade to save the planet. WWF, in its relentless pursuit of funds, was moving on from pandas to appealing to the public to “pay £3 a month to adopt a polar bear”.
Vainly, in the face of this avalanche of propaganda, did an array of experts and bodies such as the US National Biological Service and the International Union for the Conservation of Nature point out that, thanks to curbs on hunting in the Seventies, the world’s polar bear population had, in fact, risen from 10,000 in 1966 to 25,000 or more in 2006; that all but one of their 19 main groups were significantly increasing in numbers; and that, based on observed data rather than highly questionable computer models, there was not a shred of evidence of any threat to the bears from climate change……

How to green the world’s deserts:
Every once in awhile, an idea comes along that makes you ask, “gee why hasn’t anybody seen this before?”. This one of those times. This video below is something I almost didn’t watch, because my concerns were triggered by a few key words in the beginning. But, recommended by a Facebook friend, I stuck with it, and I’m glad I did, because I want every one of you, no matter what side of the climate debate you live in, to watch this and experience that light bulb moment as I did. The key here is to understand that desertification is one of the real climate changes we are witnessing as opposed to some the predicted ones we often fight over…..
A view I’ve held for ages.  The NZ biomass is ever increasing.  In my garden – exponentially!
A killer blow to AGW devotees.

Top Swedish Climate Scientist Lennart Bengtsson Says Warming So Small, Not Noticeable Without Meteorologists!

….we are creating great anxiety without it being justified…there are no indications that the warming is so severe that we need to panic.
‘The warming we have had the last a 100 years is so small that if we didn’t have had meteorologists and climatologists to measure it we wouldn’t have noticed it at all.’
The earth appears to have cooling properties that exceeds the previous thought ones, and that computer models are inadequate to try to foretell a chaotic object like the climate, where actual observations is the only way to go.”
More and more we are seeing the alarmists being increasingly marginalized. As the data pours in, their science is looking more and more preposterous.

Just in case you missed this and your wondering why I’m going to ask you all to come and see Lord Monckton in Gissy.

Please distribute this far and wide and as maybe an introduction to Lord Monckton.

This presentation is very long, but it also contains a large amount of thought-provoking and accurate commentary:

OK this has nothing whatsoever to do with climate realists- but I did think it was very funny. Enjoy!

Dear Clare, My name Ed, I have just taken a visual tour of New Zealand, through some tourist Info. on the Internet. God, Must Have had a Glorious time creating It. after following your chemtrail info. for some time and not being really computer literate I’m finally learning. I was wondering why, y’all would have chemtrails.we are bombarded with them here most every day, On the East coast of the United States. I have been taking photos of them sense I realized what was going on. For the past seven years I have had all kinds of photo them. This stuff is slowly killing us here, it iscausing all kind of sinus, ear, and breathing, problems with all age people, but what can we do? the trails I’ve seen in your pic’s look minuscule, compaired to what they are dumping on us. If I can figure out how to send yousome of my pic’s I would love for you to see them. they would probably be very scarey !! I believe they are controlling the Weather. And the only Global Warming is being created.

    Realists Atlanta Ed,

    • Thanks for your message Edward. You ask why we have chemtrails in NZ – evidence indicates that they are used with weather modification technology to create extremes, which are making life far less sustainable. There have been severe droughts in NZ recently and the satellite imagery shows a variety of techniques are being used to stop it from raining, including the spraying of aerosols into the atmosphere. I am just listening to a talk full of propaganda about “global warming” in which it is admitted aerosols reduce the rain drop size.
