First, the satellite image from Aqua taken today shows aerosol trails sprayed in parallel in three areas over the sea to the west of Northland.
Below are photos taken from Whangarei from the suburb of Woodhill on Friday, November the 21st, 2014 which show that again the sky was filled with particulates, particularly in the west. As the day went on the sky became more and more loaded with aerosol material, some of which at least may have been what can be seen in the satellite image above. Unfortunately, the particles did not remain aloft. Brad Wynyard of Tikipunga, Whangarei noticed the pollution made it more difficult to breathe than usual. His family members were complaining the air was heavy to breathe, had mild headaches, and blocked and/or runny noses. Consequently, he intends to collect a rain sample the next time it rains for analysis. Rain is forecast for tomorrow afternoon.
