This morning at Woodhill, Whangarei at around 10.30am, Jim Reece and I were looking at the sky, commenting on how much aerosol material was up there compared to usual, and then a newly-sprayed trail appeared in amongst the chemical soup. We did not see the aircraft doing it, however after taking a photo of the trail, I got on my computer, used Flightradar24.com and it showed that ANZ788 was close to Whangarei and flying north over Northland. See below for a picture from Flightradar taken at 10.39am.
According to the Departure schedule for Auckland International Airport, ANZ788 was travelling to Port Vila, (Vanuatu), and had departed at 10am, (see below).

Caught “red handed”! Nice one.
Are you going to give Air New Zealand a call? Ask the hard questions?
We did not catch it “red-handed”, as we did not record it spraying and a connect-the-dots approach was used to take a well-educated guess as to the identity of the aircraft that sprayed the trail.
Major aerosol material all over Auckland, as usual, too.
