Sheep and beef farmers, Neil and Esther Henderson of Te Karaka, Gisborne are not your average Kiwi couple. These two, who were new to political activism in 2009, felt so strongly that an Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) should not be adopted in New Zealand, that they initiated a website called Climate Realists in 2009, which they use to raise awareness of the costs associated with the ETS, as well as the political manoeuvring related to climate change, amongst other related topics. “The plaintiff does not succeed on any of its challenges to the three decisions of NIWA in issue. The application for judicial review is dismissed and judgment entered for the defendant.”

I was at the grocery store the other day when I noticed that Domino is now advertising its five-pound bags of sugar as “certified carbon-free.”
It’s been a few years since I’ve been in a chemistry class, but at least I have been in a chemistry class once, so I knew there was something deeply wrong with this advertisement. I pulled out my smartphone and refreshed my memory on the chemical formula for sugar: C6H12O6. In case it’s been even longer since you’ve been in a chemistry class, the “C” stands for “carbon.” So carbon is one of the basic natural atomic components of sugar, which is no more “carbon-free” than a charcoal briquette.
I know that what they mean by “carbon-free” is that the sugar was produced in a way that does not create industrial emissions of carbon dioxide and therefore—according to the claims of environmentalists—does not contribute to man-made global warming. At least, they claim that their operation is “carbon neutral,” which means that they probably do emit carbon dioxide but they buy some kind of dubious “offset” to “greenwash” their operation.
But what struck me is that no one on the staff of a company that makes sugar was aware that it contains carbon………………………….
A new study indicates CO2 follows air temperature which follows sea
temperature. In other words the ocean is a principal driver of global warming.
An important new paper published today in Global and Planetary Change finds that changes in CO2 follow rather than lead global air surface temperature and that “CO2 released from use of fossil fuels have little influence on the observed changes in the amount of atmospheric CO2” The paper finds the “overall global temperature change sequence of events appears to be from 1) the ocean surface to 2) the land surface to 3) the lower troposphere,” in other words, the opposite of claims by global warming alarmists that CO2 in the atmosphere drives land and ocean temperatures. Instead, just as in the ice cores, CO2 levels are found to be a lagging effect of ocean warming, not significantly related to man-made emissions, and not the driver of warming. Prior research has shown infrared radiation from greenhouse gases is incapable of warming the oceans, only shortwave radiation from the Sun is capable of penetrating and heating the oceans and thereby driving global surface temperatures……………

New Zealand prides itself on its clean green image and it truly is a beautiful country with friendly people, but there is a dark side. Global warming hysterics have successfully infiltrated government and their presence is leading to dramatic effects on unsuspecting citizens. Rent seekers and carpet baggers have been quick to spot the opportunities on offer. A recent NZ Wind Energy conference predicts approximately .4% of the country will be covered in wind farms.The bulk of these wind farms will be located in the lower third of the North Island. No public discussion about this has ever taken place. Our city, Palmerston North, was the first victim.LinkMighty River Power, a state owned electricity generator, which in a few months time will be offered for sale to the public to shore up government finances, has taken a key role in this, but there are serious problems……………….

More on Germany’s renewable energy second thoughts
The share of renewable energies in Germany’s power mix has shot up so high that the electricity grid and the subsidy framework has been unable to keep up. Now, the government wants to slow down the process. German commentators say that the current chaos endangers the entire project.
Many scoffed at the initial target that Chancellor Angela Merkel set last June, when she announced that Germany was turning away from nuclear power and toward renewable energies. Her government decided that by 2020 renewables would make up a 35 percent share of the energy mix. It was, said many experts at the time, an impossible goal.
In the 14 months since then, however, the situation has changed dramatically. In the first half of 2012, the country generated fully 25 percent of its electricity needs via wind, solar and other alternative power sources. Doubts as to whether the 35 percent target is attainable have virtually vanished.
Now a new set of problems have cropped up, and quickly. The fast pace into the renewables future has meant that German consumers are faced with skyrocketing electricity bills and that the country’s energy grid has suddenly become outdated. Indeed, Environment Minister Peter Altmaier now finds himself in the awkward position of having to put the brakes on the country’s energy revolution………………..

Reading it makes one realize how amazing it is that the mainstream press virtually never discuss the issue at this level, but instead publish supportively the day-by-day banalities of whatever is the current green push.
For years, environmental organisations in Australia have cast themselves as the only authentic defenders of the natural environment against ruthless human exploitation, usually identified with corporate Australia, particularly the mining industry, the forestry industry, agribusiness and “the big polluters” (who happen to be Australia’s electricity industry).
Their latest crusade is the introduction of a carbon tax, which is said to be necessary to prevent the build-up of greenhouse gases, particularly CO2, which are said to be causing uncontrollable global warming. The tax has contributed to the latest rise in the price of electricity for millions of households and businesses around Australia.
At the same time that the carbon tax was introduced, Australian exports of coal — which are exempt from the tax — have continued to skyrocket … with the active encouragement of the government which imposed the carbon tax!
According to the Australian Coal Association, coal is Australia’s second highest export commodity, with sales running at around 300 million tonnes a year. The value of Australia’s coal exports has nearly doubled since the Rudd Labor government was elected in 2007, and more than tripled over the past 10 years, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
Having helped Australia avert the effects of the global financial crisis, the coal industry is now being targeted through both the carbon tax and the mining tax, also introduced on July 1, 2012 by Labor with the support of the Greens. Under this punitive tax, any profit made by mining companies that is above 6 per cent of their capital investment would be taxed at 40 per cent.
However, the Greens’ agenda goes far beyond these two new taxes. It has consistently opposed the expansion of the iron-ore industry and wants to end coal-mining completely. It would also limit the expansion of Australia’s natural-gas industry, and ban uranium-mining altogether………..

Dr. Christy: Heatwave not what “Global Warming Looks Like”
Dr. John Christy, Alabama’s State Climatologist, Professor of Atmospheric Science and Director of the Earth System Science Center at the University of Alabama in Huntsville testified before the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works hearing on global warming and stated:“During the heat wave of late June and early July, high temperature extremes became newsworthy. Claims that there were thousands of records broken each day and that “this is what global warming looks like” got a lot of attention.
However, these headlines were not based on climate science. As shown in Figure 1.3 of my testimony it is scientifically more accurate to say that this is what Mother Nature looks like, since events even worse than these have happened in the past before greenhouse gases were increasing like they are today.

GW/CC has become more of a green idealism based on a religious like belief that humankind is a virus and by just living modern life, civilization is killing Mother Earth who is the God figure in this Church of Climatology. This sort of thinking was born in the early 1990s with the UNs Agenda 21. The whole nucleus of Agenda 21is based on human caused climate change and the solution to the problem is reducing the human population down to one billion globally. This would be done by creating a world centralized government in which the UN would assume. Then they will implement policies to eventually destroy the industrial structure of the world’s leading superpowers, and drastically reduce individual freedom of all citizens in complying with strict environmental laws…………

For the average dairy Farmer this tax will cost $80,000 PA and sheep, beef
and deer farmers $40,000PA surely any lobbying to reduce the impact of these
expenses is a legitimate tax deductible expense?
The same way that Telecom lobby parliamentarians etc?
If it’s not perhaps you could put a nominal $25 tax deductible entry fee on
the meeting Titled “Find out more about climate change and carbon taxes and
how they might impact your livelihood meetings”.
To make them tax deductible to attendees.

Hi DaveThanks for your email. I can see we are causing some confusion.
In saying donations are not tax deductible, we simply mean we are not
registered as a charity so people are not able to claim the donations
rebate.
As for people claiming a deduction for business purposes that is an issue
open to each individual depending on their circumstances.
We have been getting donations from pensioners and wage earners. They
obviously can’t make any deductions.
I had hoped to deduct the expenses for bringing Ian Wishart to Gisborne but
that didn’t qualify according to our accountant.
I can certainly appreciate the reasoning for them being deductable expenses
for farmers. However the taxman may not view this with the same eyes as us, so I
am certainly not willing to stick my neck out and say that donations are
legitimate tax deductible expenses.
